The model was beautifully done, and I enjoyed sanding it into shape for painting. I am very unimpressed by the decals, however. The thick, sticky vinyl peel-off stickers are not welcome. Perhaps I was using them wrong, but I'm not sure . If all Boyce models feature these vinyl stickers , then I would probably not make another purchase (which is a shame, as there are a number that I would like to buy) I hope this is helpful Rick Marcroft

Great addition to 1/100 scale fleet, Flies well.

I purchased one of the first of this kit to be available to complement my 1/100 fleet of Boyce LJ1, Mercury Redstone, Mercury Atlas, and Estes Saturn V. The kit consist of very high quality printed parts. There was some sanding required on the fins but not much otherwise, especially after priming. Assembly is very straight forward. A piece of BT20 is required for the body tube, along with an elastic shock cord and a 12" chute. Everything fit well after some light sanding. The Vinyl decals are of a good quality but very small for Vinyl. I did find it very difficult to get the "UNITED STATES" vertical decal to stay on the corrugated body tube and set down nice. It is very easy to get the letters to move out of alignment if they stick to the backing and dont adhere to the rocket. For these decals only, I probably would have preferred waterslides. I did get it worked out with some toothpicks to push them into the corrugations. I ended up using 1/2 ounce (2 bricks) of Estes clay to balance the rocket for a B6-4 motor. The recommended C6-5 seemed a bit heavy to me and I didn't want the rocket to go that high. The first flight was optimal on a B6-4 with the finished rocket wieghing about 2.8 ounces without the motor. The delay was about right, a B6-2 would hav been early. All in all, I am very pleased with the quality of this kit and am glad to see it available in 1/100 scale.
