The Boeing X-20 “Dynamic Soarer” was a United States Air Force program to develop a versatile space plane. Among the uses were aerial reconnaissance, bombing, space rescue, satellite maintenance and even an interceptor for enemy satellites. Boyce Aerospace Hobbies 3D-prints the Dyna-Soar in 12 quality ABS parts at 1/73rd scale. Our kit is the most accurate currently on the market, designed and developed using original data shared by Dr. Roy Houchin II, the author of US Hypersonic Research and Development: The Rise and Fall of 'Dyna-Soar', 1944-1963. The USAF cancelled the project after construction had begun and over $660 million US dollars (at the time) were spent. The program ran from October 24, 1957 to December 10, 1963. Although the Dyna-Soar never launched, ours can reach up to 575 feet on a recommended D12-5 motor. Each kit features a full Dyna-Soar Titan II fin can, screw on motor retainer, removable screw on display engines, full instructions and vinyl body wrap decals. The Boyce Aerospace Hobbies Dyna-Soar "Builders Kit" requires the additional purchase of one BT-60 and BT-50 body tube along with a 24" recovery parachute.

Boyce Aerospace Hobbies recommends hobbyists under the age of 13 be supervised by an adult at all times.

A really nice kit

Overall I am quite pleased with this kit! Boyd bridges the gap between precision glue together and traditional rocket kits. The scale appears to be on target. For a basic build it will be quick. If your target is realism...get ready for a lot of sanding and filler primer sanding. 3D printing these days is pretty good, but not as precise as kits like Revell. Boyd provides great instructions and nice quality decals. IMHO water slide decals are the best, herein you’ll find more traditional paper stickers. I wish these kits included the tubing. Great job Boyd Aerospace.

A quality detailed kit

Building this Dyna-Soar Titan II Builders Kit was fun. The build went very well. I prepped the body tube with CWF and primed the tube. I probably could have skipped that but it created a very smooth surface for the wraps. The body wraps are highly detailed and are of high quality. I used a NEW X-acto blade when cutting and trimming the wraps. With patience and careful trimming the 2 pieces matched up perfectly. I used a black sharpie to “paint” the upper launch lug so it blended in with the wrap. The space plane is highly detailed and well printed. There was ample room in it for the weights to balance the kit. After applying the vinyl decals to the space plane, I sprayed the entire model with a few coats of clear matte. I made a few changes. I painted the nozzles black and I added black 1/16” striping tape to the bottom of the body tube above the fins. I am looking forward to flying it with my grandkids.
