This 3D printed kit is a reproduction of the classic scale Cox Nike Zeus model rocket from the 70’s. Changes were made in the original design to facilitate fabrication via 3D printing. The model is designed to fly as a single stage rocket (not a two stage as the original). The Nike Zeus must be assembled using super glue and includes, booster with fins and motor mount, two part air frame with fins on the lower section, and nose cone with steering fins. The rocket uses one 24 mm Estes model rocket motor. The kit includes assembly instructions but no parachute or decals (the modeler must provide his favorite recovery system). The parts should be sanded with fine grit wet/dry sand paper and primed to achieve a smooth glossy finish. Sanding is quick and easy as the sand paper can be used wet and the model will only require a few minutes of sanding. We’ve priced this model appropriately when you consider the 12 hours of print time required to produce it. Just the booster section alone is a 6 hour print and requires an enclosed build area and special print settings!
Your Nike Zeus is sure to get lots of attention at your next launch. It’s a super quick and easy build and has all the details you would expect in a model like this. The kit flies on the following motors: Estes D12-5 and RMS 24 mm D11-5. Estimated altitudes for these motors are over 1075 feet! Replacement parts are available should your model get damaged during flight (just email us for pricing!).
