Our Nike Hercules is one of our most popular kits because it’s one of the coolest missiles the U.S. Army ever deployed. It was designed to intercept and destroy Soviet high-altitude bombers before they could deliver their nuclear bombs on U.S. cities and military installations. It was deployed around a few major cities during the late 50’s and early 60’s. The advent of ICBM’s made the missile obsolete within just a few short years. Our model is a 1/24th scale replica of the Hercules. The kit comes in just 5 pieces for easy assembly. Just superglue the pieces together, wet/dry sand and primer the model, paint and detail the model and you’ll have an awesome model to fly and display.

Nike Hercules

This is my first 3D printed rocket. 5 stars the whole way! Printing the best I've ever seen. Moderate sanding and high fill primer is your friend. I've got the nose cone and second stage completed working on the booster now. Just excellent all the way around. You should be very proud of what you offer to the public!!

Assembly

I bought this kit off your E-bay website a few weeks ago. I am very happy the way it came out and I am eager to fly this very nice model soon. However I did things a little differently than your instructions. 1. I painted the Nike first stage before gluing the assembly together. I did sand the areas with 600 grit and 1000 grit sand paper. 2. I did not paint the second stage Hercules section, the white plastic was sufficient enough. If you want use a grey primer, it might bleed through the white paint. You may get better results if you use a white plastic primer for models. 3. Since I am going to fly this model soon, I did add clay to the nose cone. I suspended the model with an extra cord at the center of gravity point and added three pieces of Estes clay in the nose cone until the model was balanced with the D12-5 engine. 4. I added a 24" nylon parachute and attached it with a fishing snap swivel so the parachute will open and the cord and model will not get tangled upon landing. I have used this successfully with other model rockets. 5. I wanted this model to be accurate as possible, so instead of using the enclosed decals , I made my own using an avery label and using a number 24 size font with Arial. Did not use arial bold. So I hope if anybody would enjoy building this really nice model rocket, I hope some of this information helps! Michael

Nike Hercules

Nicely detailed. Will use it as a static model. Worked on them when I was in the army 70-72.

Great model

I’ll be building it as a static display. I worked on the Nike Hercules while in the Army. This is the perfect size for me to detail and display.

Nike Hercules kit

For my first 3d kit I'm impressed with the details and the quality. For a static display...excellent. For a flying rocket...not impressed at all with design. Motor mount screws were junk, had to retap and use bigger screws. The nose cone line up groove snags 'chute and leads causing failure and crashes. Instructions call for a 24" chute, I had all I could do to make a 15" chute work. Great kit for display, not for flying IMHO.
